About World Photographic Cup Team Canada Finalist
The World Photographic Cup is a competition in which a team of photographers represent their home countries.
The WPC was founded in 2013 as a cooperative effort by the FEP – Federation of European Photographers (www.europeanphotographers.eu) and PPA – Professional Photographers of America (www.ppa.com). Its singular goal is to unite photographers in a spirit of friendship and cooperation. A Governing Committee has been created to conduct the ongoing affairs of the competition also supported by UAPP (United Asian Professional Photography) and AIPP (Australian Institute of Professional Photography). The brotherhood and sisterhood of photography is a bond that transcends language, culture and geography. That’s the foundation behind the World Photographic Cup, an one of a kind international team competition. Sure, there are lots of other competitions, but there is just one World Photographic Cup.
Team Canada’s entry into the World Photographic Cup will be comprised of the three top scoring images submitted in each category. The images will be scored by a panel of judges who are expert in the genre of photography that they are curating. Some judges may be qualified to score images in more than one category. For example, a judge may be qualified in both portrait and wedding categories. No judge will be invited to score images in a category that they are not qualified for. Therefore, certain judges may only score images in a single category while others may score images in two or three categories.
The curating process is done on line and is completely anonymous. Judges will have access to a unique software designed specifically for World Photographic Cup. Judges can view the images in high resolution and enter scores based upon the criteria for each category. No judge will know who created the image or what score any other judge gives. The scores from all judges will be averaged and the three images with the highest average score will be declared finalists.
The three images declared finalists in each category will be entered in the World Photographic Cup as part of Team Canada’s entry. These images will be judged again by the international judging panel and compete for Canada against the best from countries around the world.
All finalists will be awarded certificates indicating that they were selected as a finalist for Team Canada.
Winners will be announced at the WPC Awards Ceremony in Drammen, Norway, on April, 8, 2019
